The Journey
Getting Here Is Part of the Experience
The journey to Pelican Point Lodge is not merely a transfer — it's a transition. As the town recedes and the landscape empties out, something shifts. The noise fades. The horizon expands. By the time you arrive, you've already begun to decompress.
There is no shortcut to Pelican Point. The peninsula can only be reached by a 45-minute escorted drive across the sand, or by boat across the bay. Both routes are extraordinary.
Getting Here
Two Ways to Arrive
4x4 Peninsula Transfer
The classic approach. A 45-minute escorted drive across the sand peninsula from Walvis Bay. Watch the landscape transform as civilization falls away.
Boat Transfer
Cross Walvis Bay by boat, arriving at the lodge's private jetty. Dolphins and seals often escort you on the journey.
Most guests arrive via the escorted 4x4 transfer from Walvis Bay. The drive takes you along the peninsula, past flamingo lagoons and seal colonies, with the ocean on both sides.
Alternatively, arrive by boat — a 20-minute crossing from Walvis Bay harbour that offers a different perspective on the peninsula and its wildlife.
The Route
From Walvis Bay to the Edge
The peninsula extends approximately 15km into the Atlantic from Walvis Bay. The drive follows the narrow strip of sand between the bay and the open ocean.
